Create a Character Turnaround with Camera Orbit
A character turnaround sheet shows your character from every angle — front, back, sides, and all the three-quarter views in between. It is the gold standard for handing off a character design to a 3D modeler, an animation team, or a collaborator. The orbit camera makes this dead simple: lock the elevation at eye level, keep the distance fixed, and rotate the azimuth in clean 45-degree increments. Answer: Use the 3D camera angle tool as an orbit camera to generate 8 views of your character at 45-degree azimuth intervals — all with consistent framing and scale — for a professional turnaround sheet.
- 01
Set Distance to Frame the Full Character
Pull the camera back until the character fits from head to feet with about 10% headroom at the top. Lock this distance. Consistent distance across all eight angles is what keeps your character the same size in every frame.
- 02
Lock Elevation at Eye Level
Set elevation to 0 degrees so the camera is at the character’s eye level. This neutral height is standard for turnaround sheets because it shows proportions without any perspective distortion from looking up or down.
- 03
Generate the Front View at Azimuth 0
With azimuth at 0 degrees, the camera faces the character straight on. Generate this as the first frame of your turnaround sheet. This is your anchor view — everything else rotates around it.
- 04
Rotate to Azimuth 45 for Front-3/4 View
Move the azimuth to 45 degrees. This front three-quarter view is one of the most useful angles because it shows both the front and side of the character simultaneously. Generate and save.
- 05
Continue in 45-Degree Increments Through 315
Keep rotating the azimuth in 45-degree steps — 90 (right profile), 135 (back-3/4), 180 (back), 225 (back-3/4 left), 270 (left profile), 315 (front-3/4 left). Generate each one. Arrange all eight in a grid for your complete turnaround sheet.
- Use a neutral A-pose or T-pose for your character upload — arms away from the body makes details on the torso visible from side angles.
- Write down or save your exact distance value before starting. Even a small distance change between angles will break the consistency of your turnaround.
- Front-3/4 views (azimuth 45 and 315) are the most requested angles by 3D modelers — make sure these are sharp.
- For characters with asymmetrical designs (scars, accessories on one side), the full 8-angle turnaround is essential to capture every detail.
- If the character has a tail, wings, or other protruding features, add an extra angle at azimuth 0 from slightly above to show how those features attach.
- The back view (azimuth 180) is often skipped by beginners but is critical for modelers who need to see hair design and back details.
- Arrange your final turnaround grid with front view center-top, profiles on the sides, and 3/4 views filling in between.
- Free tier users can generate 3 turnaround angles per day. Standard tier removes the cap so you can generate a full 8-angle turnaround in one session.
