What does the Video to GIF converter do?
It turns a short video clip — MP4, WebM or MOV — into an animated GIF, and hands back a looping WebM and a poster frame alongside it. Upload the clip, pick a frame rate and width, and the converted files are ready to download in a few seconds.

Why do these GIFs look better than most converters?
Every GIF is rendered with a two-pass palette. The first pass analyses the whole clip and builds a colour palette tuned to that footage; the second pass re-encodes the frames against it. Single-pass converters reuse one generic 256-colour palette, which is what produces the banded skies and muddy gradients GIFs are notorious for.

Which formats can I convert, and what do I get back?
In: MP4 (H.264), WebM and MOV. Out: an animated GIF at your chosen width and frame rate, a looping VP9 WebM of the same clip, and a JPEG poster frame you can use as a thumbnail or link preview.

Is there a file size or length limit?
Yes — clips must be under 80 MB and 30 seconds or shorter. GIF is an old format with no interframe compression, so a long clip becomes an enormous file long before it becomes a good one. Trim to the moment you actually want to loop and the result is both smaller and better.

What frame rate and width should I pick?
15 fps at 480px is the balanced default and suits most clips. Drop to 10 fps and 320px for chat emotes and Discord, where small files matter more than smoothness. Go to 20 fps and 640px when motion detail matters and a larger file is fine. File size roughly tracks frames multiplied by pixels, so both dials move it.

Should I use the WebM instead of the GIF?
If the destination supports it, yes. The looping WebM is typically five to ten times smaller than the GIF at the same visual quality, and it supports full colour rather than 256 shades. Use the GIF where a real video file will not play — old chat clients, email, some forums — and use the WebM everywhere else.

Do you watermark the GIF?
No. There is no watermark, no logo, and no branding of any kind on the GIF, the WebM or the poster frame. What you download is your clip.
